Build your floor

Your floor plan is the map every host, server and screen shares during service. Designing it once, to match your real room, is what makes seating, availability and the live floor view work. This guide walks you through building a floor from scratch.

Start a floor

A venue can have as many floors as it has spaces — "Main Dining", "Patio", "Bar", "2nd Floor". Each floor is its own canvas. Open the floor view, switch into design mode, and add a floor to get a blank canvas to work on.

You can rename, duplicate, or reorder floors at any time, so it is fine to start rough and refine later.

Drop tables from the palette

The designer gives you a preset palette so you are not drawing tables by hand. Each preset stamps a sensible capacity, shape and size — and everything stays editable after you place it. The presets are:

Tap a preset to drop it onto the canvas, then slide it into place. The underlying shapes are round, square and rectangle (plus the booth, banquette and bar-seat variants), and a rectangle is just a shape whose width and height differ — so a "horizontal" and "vertical" rectangle are the same table at different proportions.

Arrange, resize and rotate

Everything about a placed table is adjustable directly on the canvas:

• Drag a table to move it.
• Resize it by its handles to match a real table's footprint.
• Rotate it freely to any angle, or use the one-tap 90° orientation toggle to flip a rectangle between landscape and portrait without eyeballing the angle.
• Change the capacity up or down a seat at a time after the preset stamp — the seats around the table redraw to match.

Because the layout is stored as real measurements (position, rotation, width, height and shape), the room on screen mirrors the room on the floor, and behind the scenes the system can answer questions like "which patio tables seat six or more" instantly.

Combine tables for large parties

Mark tables as combinable when they can be pushed together for a bigger party — for example two four-tops that become a party of eight. Availability then knows those tables can host a larger booking together, and the floor treats the combined group as one seating. Set this up once in the designer and it applies every service.

Sections and decor

You can group tables into server sections and drop in decor — bars, walls, doors, plants — so the plan reads like your actual space rather than a grid of tables. Sections also drive the cover-balance hints hosts see when seating.

Import a floor plan with AI (Pro)

If you already have a floor-plan image — a screenshot, a PDF export, a photo of a printed plan — you can upload it as a trace backdrop on a fresh floor and place tables over it by hand.

On Pro plans with the floor-plan import feature enabled, you can go one step further: after uploading the image, run auto-detect and the system uses AI vision to find the tables in your picture and lay them out for you. The detection runs in the background; when it finishes you can keep the detected tables or discard the whole import and start over. Either way the traced image is cleared once you accept, leaving a clean floor you can fine-tune.
